As well as the joy of the Lord, there is also to be the fear of the Lord
in our worship. Psalms 97, 98 and 100 speak of the joy of the Lord:
“Find joy in the Lord, you righteous people” (Psalm 97:12). “Shout
happily to the Lord, all the earth. Break into joyful singing” (Psalm
98:4). “Shout happily to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord
cheerfully. Come into His presence with a joyful song” (Psalm 100:1-2).
Psalm 99 emphasizes the importance of the fear of the Lord: “The Lord
rules as King. Let the people tremble. He is enthroned over the angels.
Let the earth quake” (Psalm 99:1).
