Job 21:1-34
Lord, we sense Job’s
deep disappointment, as he says to his ‘comforters’, “How then will you
comfort me with empty nothings? There is nothing left of your answers
but falsehood” (Job 21:34). We thank You, Lord, that Job was looking
beyond his ‘comforters’. He was looking to You: “He knows the way that I
take; when He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold” (Job 23:10).
When life is hard, and it’s difficult to understand what’s going on,
help us to hold on to Your promise: “Those who wait on the Lord shall
renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles … ”
(Isaiah 40:31).
