Does anything really last forever? ...

"Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever" (1 John 2:15-17).

Each of us must choose. How are we going to live? Will we live for the Lord? or Will we live for the world? What difference will it make? Here, John speaks about the long-term view - "the world is passing away ... but he who does the will of God abides forever" (verse 17). Forever? The world says to us, "Does anything really last forever?" It may go against the direction of this-worldly thinking, but we, who believe in the eternal God, must continue to take seriously what John says here: "he who does the will of God abides forever."

May God's Blessing Surround You Each Day ...

God's Word is "a lamp to our feet and a light to our path." He has "wondrous things" to teach us as we pray "Open my eyes that I may see" (Psalm 119:105, 18, 11). "May God's blessing surround you each day, as you trust Him and walk in His way. May His presence within guard and keep you from sin, go in peace, go in joy, go in love." "Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but to Your Name give glory, because of Your mercy and Your truth" (Psalm 115:1).
