For the start of a new year ...

Start the way you mean to continue... this is, also. for the rest of the year. Some verses from the Psalms - “He has given me a new song to sing, a song of praise to our God “ (Psalm 40:3); “Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me” (Psalm 51:10); “You crown the year with a bountiful harvest” (Psalm 65:11); “Teach is to make the most of our time, so that we may grow in wisdom” (Psalm 90:12)
A new song comes from a new heart, a heart made new by the Lord, who comes to us and makes his home in us. At the end of the old year, we look back with thanksgiving. At the start of the new year, we step into the future with prayer: “Teach us to make. the most of our time” - this is not a “bucket list” (pack in as much as you can). It’s about the quality of what we do - Will it last for eternity? or Will it be keeping ourselves busy, but doing nothing that really matters for eternity? At the start of this new year, let us decide to live for the Lord, more truly and more fully than we have done in past years.
