God is not just an indifferent onlooker - watching us, but not really caring about us. He's more than just the God of heaven. He's our God. He loves us. He cares about us. We must never think that he doesn't care about us. We may ask God why he "should care for us" (Psalm 8:4). Is there something so special about us? No! There's not - "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). There is, however, something very special about God. He's the God of love. He loves us. He doesn't stop loving us when we fail in our love for him. He keeps on loving us - and he calls us to learn more of his love and to learn to love him more. When our love for the Lord grows weak - and we're wondering why he doesn't just give up on us, let's remember this: "The eternal God is your refuge, and his everlasting arms are under you" (Deuteronomy 34:27).
