Let go and let God have His wonderful way.

“Take the staff, and you (Moses) and your brother Aaron, gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community so they and their livestock can drink” (Numbers 20:8).
Speak to the rock – this is what the Lord told Moses to do.
What did Moses do? – he “struck the rock twice with his staff” (Numbers 20:11).
What happened when Moses struck the rock?
Two things happened.
First, there was blessing for God’s people – “Water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank” (Numbers 20:11).
Second, there was a rebuke for Moses and Aaron – “But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.”” (Numbers 20:12).
Moses didn’t do what God told him to do. He did things his way, not the Lord’s way – and he and Aaron missed out on the blessing of entering the promised land.
Why did Moses strike the rock instead of speaking to the rock?
God’s Word tells us that he “did not trust in God enough … .” He didn’t believe that the spoken word would be enough.
Why did God, still, provide water for the people? – He loved the people, and he provided for them.
God, still, had his plan – to bring his redeemed people into the land he had promised to them, but this fulfilment would not come to the older generation. It was time for a new beginning.

What did God say to Moses about the older generation? – “Surely not one of these men of this evil generation shall see that good land of which I swore to give to your fathers, 36 except Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him and his children I am giving the land on which he walked, because he wholly followed the Lord.’” (Deuteronomy 1:35-36).

What did God say to Moses about his own future? – “Even you shall not go in there” (Deuteronomy 1:37).

What did God say about the new beginning? – “Joshua the son of Nun, who stands before you, he shall go in there. Encourage him, for he shall cause Israel to inherit it” (Deuteronomy 1:38).

What is God saying to us? – Let us learn from Moses, Caleb and Joshua.

Learning from Moses’ failure to do things God’s way – We must let go and let God have his wonderful way (the spoken word would have been enough – no need for striking the rock!)

Learning from Caleb and Joshua – Let us wholly follow the Lord, and step into the future with him.

I looked for a video of the song, “Let go and let God have His wonderful way.”
I did find two videos, but, then, I found another video of another song.
It’s, also, called, “Let go and let God.” I hope you will be blessed, as you listen to the song and read the words that accompany it. Here’s the link – http://youtube.com/watch?v=HMRNhbsbO3c

May God's Blessing Surround You Each Day ...

God's Word is "a lamp to our feet and a light to our path." He has "wondrous things" to teach us as we pray "Open my eyes that I may see" (Psalm 119:105, 18, 11). "May God's blessing surround you each day, as you trust Him and walk in His way. May His presence within guard and keep you from sin, go in peace, go in joy, go in love." "Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but to Your Name give glory, because of Your mercy and Your truth" (Psalm 115:1).

Wonderful Grace of Jesus

What happens to us, Lord, when we turn away from You?

2 Kings 17:1-41 What happens to us, Lord, when we turn away from You? Everything starts falling apart. It may seem like we’re getting on well – but there’s an “emptiness” (2 Kings 17:14) at the heart of everything that we do. Having Jesus as our Saviour – this is all that really matters. there’s nothing more important than this. Help us to keep on coming to Jesus, to keep on enjoying “the fullness of life” that He gives to us (John 10:10),
