Running away ...

Jesus' parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32) begins with the son running away from home. It looked like it was a one-way ticket to disaster - but it wasn't! There was a return ticket. There was a way back home. When the son made the return journey, he found that his father was also running - running out to meet him (Luke 15:20). What an enthusiastic welcome! What love! The father had never stopped loving his son. We can run away - but we can never outrun the love of God. His love can reach us, even in the most unlikely places. Never give up hope! God doesn't - and neither should we! Over and over again, even in our wilderness wanderings, God gives us reminders of his love. He doesn't give up on us. Let's stop running away from God - and start running back to him. He'll be running out to meet us!
