Who, me?

The Word of God speaks to us about our sin - and we say, "Who, me?" We can so easily use evasive tactics - to avoid the searching light of God's holy Word. Who are we to point the finger at someone else - when God is saying to us, "It's you. I'm speaking to you."? Unless our confession of sin is personal, our joy in God's forgiveness will never really be personal. We need to pray, "God, be merciful to me, a sinner" (Luke 18:13). When God speaks to us about us, let us not look for excuses - "I'm not all that bad. I'm not as bad as he is." Let us confess our sins - and receive God's forgiveness. When we confess how great our sin is, we will learn to appreciate how great our Saviour is.
